Spinal Implant, A Relief For People Suffering From Degenerative Disc Disease

What is spinal Implant

In today’s world of technological advancement, the rapid growth of the health sector can be witnessed. The use of a spine or spinal implant is a milestone in the medical sector which is known to relieve people suffering from a slippage of the spine (spondylolisthesis), chronic degenerative disc disease, traumatic fracture, and other painful forms of spinal instability including scoliosis. The scientists, doctors, and surgeons from all around the world are working with Spinal Implants Manufacturer to improve, develop, and refine spine implants.

Spinal Implants Manufacturer use metals like titanium, titanium alloy or stainless steel alloy to make these implants so that it does not react with the body’s immune system and helps to correct spinal deformities 3-dimensionally. Spinal implants like hooks, rods, cages, plates, and screw systems are used when spinal conditions require surgery.

Different types of spine implants.

There are two types of spinal implants used in spine surgeries, one is a fusion implant and the other is a nonfusion implant.

FUSION IMPLANT

The Manufacturer produces Cervical Spine Plate implants that are used by orthopedic surgeons to perform spinal fusion surgery along with bone grafting. The implants used for fusion surgery are

● Rods:  Rods are strong, with little flexibility to allow the doctor to shape the rod to match the patient’s alignment. It is one of the original implants used for spinal surgery.

● Pedicle Screws: pedicle screws, named after the part where they are implanted are specially designed screws that are carefully implanted into the pedicles of the patient undergoing spine implant procedure. Traditionally it was used in lumber Spain, but with the advancement of technology, surgeons have started using these screws along with rods in the thoracic spine too.

● Hooks: hooks along with screws created the anchorage point to which rods are attached to perform spine fusion surgery.

● Plates: plates are held in place by sets of screws into the adjacent vertebrae to conform to the contour of the spine and can be adjusted to customize the fit to the patient’s anatomy.

● Cages: cages are often called inter-body cages by the surgeons. Cages are a small hollow implant tool with perforated walls that are placed between two vertebrae of the patient with the help of sets of screws and hooks to restore collapsed disc and to relieve pressure on nerve roots.

NON FUSION IMPLANT

Non-fusion implant technique is an alternative to the traditional spinal implant where preserving motion (normal range of motion) is used in place of fusing it. The implants used for non-fusion surgery are

● Artificial Discs: Artificial Disc Or Artificial Disc Replacement (ADR) is implanted into the spine and acts as a normal disc. Whether the entire disc has to be removed or only the nucleus (center of the disc), is decided by the surgeon depending on the condition of the patient.

● Expandable Rods: Expandable Rods are flexible in nature and are used to straighten the spine without fusing the vertebrae of the patient undergoing implantation.

Advantage of Spinal Implant

● One of the biggest advantages of a spine implant is that the Patients usually have the option of trying the implant for a trial period which gives the patient time to decide whether he or she wants to undergo permanent spinal implant or not.

● The spinal implant has very few or no side effects and can be easily removed by the surgeons if it is not effective for the patient.

● Absolutely no restrictions on movement or other activities after the implant procedure.

● The implant is under the skin, as a result, cannot be understood from the exterior.

● After the implant, the patient does not have to depend on medications, which might cause some serious side effects, especially when consumed for a long period of time.

Like all other surgeries, spine implant surgery also has some risks, but that is very minimal and can be easily minimized by following the guidelines provided by the doctors. MJ Surgical produces these implants in different shapes and sizes to match the requirements of the patient depending on age and gender. There are many trusted Spinal Implants Manufacturer who provides good quality implant tools for surgery.
